Hamamatsu develops and manufactures advanced two-dimensional or linear X-ray cameras for measurement applications from low energy up to several hundred keV.
The X-ray CCD cameras consist of a CCD sensor optically coupled to an FOS (FOP coated with Scintillator material).
Flat panel sensors are X-ray imaging modules which utilise a large area CMOS image sensor combined with a scintillator. Flat Panel Sensors can capture megapixel-class, high definition digital images, which are distortion-free in both still and moving images. Their thin profile and light weight make flat panel sensors easy to install into other equipment. Flat panel sensors are now widely used in various types of X-ray imaging systems including CT.
X-ray line scan cameras can take a high-sensitivity, high-resolution X-ray image of an inspected object transported on a belt conveyor or similar apparatus. They are the ideal solution for the detection of a foreign body mixed in food, electronic components and in many other applications. X-ray analysis of large objects has been difficult until now, however the wide inspection area offered by our cameras now makes this possible.
The C13247 is an energy differentiation type radiation line sensor designed for an efficient, non-invasive detection of pipe corrosion in industrial plants such as oil, gas and petrochemical refineries. The C13247 ensures high accuracy that never seen up till now and reliable inspections of pipe corrosion.
In conventional visual and ultrasonic inspections, the heat insulator materials must be removed from around the pipes. This also requires the time and the cost of installing scaffolds to remove and rewrap the heat insulator materials. Other techniques that utilize conventional radiation inspection or neutron moisture measurement have the problem of being easily affected by scattered radiation which makes accurate measurement difficult.
The C13247 energy-discriminating radiation line sensor solves all of these problems to successfully capture sharp, clear inspection images.
The C12137 series is a radiation detection module containing a scintillator and MPPC® (multi-pixel photon counter) designed to detect gamma rays from 137Cs (Cesium-137) and the like. The scintillator converts incident gamma rays into visible light, and the MPPC detects the light down to extremely low light levels to measure low-energy gamma rays with high accuracy. The signal processing circuit and A/D converter are housed in a compact case. The modules provide a USB or RS-232C interface. The products include sample software with functions for setting measurement conditions, acquiring and saving data, and drawing graphs, etc.
Hamamatsu Photonics has developed a new radiation line sensor that uses a cadmium telluride detector. This radiation line sensor simultaneously measures the number of radiation photons in 5 different energy regions to acquire their images. By utilizing information on radiation energy passing through a substance, this radiation line sensor identifies the substance material and measures material quantities that include the substance thickness, density and concentration. Potential applications for this radiation line sensor include baggage screening, foreign object inspection of foods, industrial non-destructive testing such as for plumbing, structures and containers, and medical radiography such as X-ray CT and bone densitometry.
